Small businesses are the lifeblood of the Brazilian economy, accounting for 56 percent of the urban workforce. To support the growth of small businesses, the Brazilian Development Bank (BNDES) created a program to enable access to low-interest credit on Visa cards. This simplifies the complexity of getting loans for merchants and improves the efficiency and transparency of distributing and overseeing loans. Electronic payments are saving BNDES money and helping businesses — and the Brazilian economy — grow.
